We make it

Since 1971, we have led the effort to permanently protect 100 acres of our urban forest, in the midst of the most unique housing development in Tulsa. Here's just a small sampling of the neighborhood treasures we've helped preserve over the years. Our neighborhood volunteers, board, and staff work together to make it happen.

Trails and Ponds

How many miles of trails run through the Gilcrease Hills 100-acre cross-timber woods? Well, we’re busy mapping (and naming) them in 2023. If you set out on one of the trails from your cul-de-sac, be sure to take your GPS and a sturdy walking stick, as most trails are pretty hilly. And don’t even get us started with the Tale of the Pond Ducks. We also started a Landscape & Sustainability committee to develop a forest maintenance plan. In addition, we’re partnering with several community ecology organizations and the Oklahoma State Forest Service.

Tennis and Pickleball Courts

We resurfaced and repurposed one of our two courts in 2022—it’s now a tennis court and two pickleball courts. In addition to the new surface, windscreens were installed on the north and south fences. A tennis coach is available.

Clubhouse

A great party and meeting place, the clubhouse at 1919 W. Seminole houses the homeowners association offices as well as a large multipurpose room and a big comfy living room with a fireplace. There’s also a kitchen, an exercise room, showers, and an outdoor pool. Rebuilt after a lightning-started fire in 1987, the clubhouse is the center of the neighborhood. An woman’s exercise group meets every Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday morning.

Swimming Pools

We have two pools—one next to the clubhouse and one in Oakwood village at Gilcrease Museum Road and Independence Avenue. Both pools have are in top shape because we’ve done extensive maintenance in the last few years. The Oakwood pool was actually completely rebuilt in the 19xxs.
